Our Venetian Plaster Application Process
Applying Venetian plaster requires precision and experience to achieve the desired finish. Our process is divided into several key stages, ensuring an optimal result:
- 1
Surface Preparation (approx. 2-4 hours)
We thoroughly clean and smooth the walls, ensuring they are free of dust, grease, and any imperfections. We apply a specific primer coat to seal the surface and guarantee the plaster's adhesion.
- 2
Base Coat Application (approx. 4-8 hours)
We spread the first layer of Venetian plaster with a stainless steel trowel, creating a uniform and smooth base. We allow it to dry for the manufacturer's recommended time before proceeding.
- 3
Texture and Sheen Creation (approx. 6-12 hours)
We apply successive layers (usually 2-3) with short, crosswise strokes, applying light pressure to create the characteristic veined and marbled effect. Between each layer, and once the last one is dry, we polish the surface with a clean trowel to enhance the sheen and depth.
- 4
Finishing and Protection (approx. 1-2 hours)
Once the desired level of sheen is achieved, we apply a natural or synthetic wax specifically for Venetian plaster. This protective layer seals the surface, enhances the deep shine, and protects against moisture and stains, facilitating subsequent cleaning and ensuring a silky, durable finish.
