Our Wall Smoothing and Painting Process
Our comprehensive wall smoothing and painting process is structured to deliver exceptional results efficiently.
- 1
Initial Assessment and Surface Preparation (1-2 hours)
We begin by thoroughly inspecting your walls, identifying all imperfections. We then protect your furniture and flooring with drop cloths and masking tape. Any loose paint or debris is removed, and significant cracks are opened and cleaned.
- 2
Application of Smoothing Compound (3-6 hours per coat)
We apply the first layer of specific smoothing compound, carefully filling all irregularities. This is typically followed by a drying period of 4-8 hours, depending on humidity. A second, finer coat is often necessary to achieve a perfectly uniform surface, with another drying interval.
- 3
Sanding and Dust Removal (2-4 hours)
Once fully dry, the smoothed surface is meticulously sanded using fine-grit sandpaper, often with a dustless sander, to achieve a perfectly level and smooth finish. This step is crucial for paint adhesion and appearance. We then thoroughly clean the area, removing all dust.
- 4
Priming and Painting (4-8 hours per coat)
A high-quality primer is applied to seal the surface and ensure optimal paint adhesion, followed by 2-3 coats of your chosen paint. Each paint coat requires a drying time of 2-4 hours. The entire process, for an average Horta living room, typically spans 2-4 days, ensuring each stage is completed to the highest standard.
