How we work
Until now, the heritage protection for both neighbourhoods was established by the Sant Martí Architectural, Historical, and Artistic Heritage Protection Plan, approved in 2000. Almost a quarter of a century later, a regulatory update was needed to protect the neighbourhoods' heritage character, their historical memory, urban landscape, and environment. Additionally, it was needed to define measures to promote new affordable housing. To prepare the document for initial approval, an extensive participatory process was followed, attended by 157 individuals and involving the neighbourhoods' main organisations. Four public open forums, five sector-specific meetings to discuss areas like facilities, heritage, and housing, two feedback sessions, and two exploratory walks were held.
