How we work
Changing a standard switch to a dimmer switch requires first checking that the light fitting is compatible. Standard LED bulbs are often not dimmable. Only LED bulbs labelled 'dimmable' work well with a dimmer. Old halogen bulbs do dim without issue but are rarely used now due to energy consumption. To add a new socket where there was none before, there are two approaches. The first is concealed conduit. This involves opening a channel in the wall from the nearest socket to the new point, running the cable inside, and then closing the channel with plaster. This is visually the cleanest option but involves minor construction work and repainting the wall. Timeframe: 4-6 hours plus wall repair.
