If, after bleeding the radiator, it still heats poorly, there may be more serious potential causes. Sludge accumulation is the first. Over the years, the water in the heating circuit generates oxides and mineral deposits that settle in the radiators, especially at the bottom. This sludge reduces the effective water flow area and creates cold spots. The solution is a chemical flush of the entire circuit with a specific descaling product, introduced with the boiler off and circulated for a few hours. It is completely drained before refilling with new water treated with a corrosion inhibitor.
