How we work
Changing a standard switch to a dimmer switch first requires checking that the light fitting is compatible. Standard LED bulbs are often not dimmable. Only LED bulbs specifically labelled as 'dimmable' work well with a dimmer. Older halogen bulbs dim without issue but are rarely used now due to their energy consumption. To add a new socket where there was none before, there are two approaches. The first is chasing. This involves cutting a channel in the wall from the nearest existing socket to the new point, running the cable inside, and then closing the channel with plaster. It's the most visually clean option but involves minor construction work and repainting the wall. Timeline: 4-6 hours plus wall repair.
