How we work
Silicone sealant is applied with a caulking gun in a continuous, steady motion. Stopping and starting creates visible irregularities. Immediately after application, it's smoothed with a silicone finishing tool or a finger dipped in soapy water to create the characteristic uniform concave finish. Masking tape is removed before the silicone starts to cure, within the first 5 minutes. First, all old silicone must be completely removed. New silicone cannot be applied over old silicone; it won't adhere and will peel off within weeks. Removal is done with a special cutter, scraper, and, in difficult cases, with a specific softening chemical product that dissolves the old silicone without damaging the tiles.
