Casa Serra was originally built as the residence of the family whose name the building bears. Apparently, they never lived there! Anyway, the building is considered one of the examples of Modernisme in Catalonia, something like a cultural heritage of the Catalans. It is a quite interesting building, and the people who use it must feel quite lucky. These are all those people who work for the provincial council of Barcelona, because it is their headquarters! However, there is a bit of a negative mark against this, as there is a more modern building. Some would say quite ugly, which was built in the 1980s to serve as offices for the provincial council. It somehow spoils the beautiful original building. It is worth taking a look.
