In the late 19th century, its oligomineral and lithia water was channelled and gradually gained prestige to the point that in 1905 the spring was declared for public use. The industrial supply saw the water bottled in large jugs as “Agua Fargas - Horta - The best table water”. It was sent to a shop in Barcelona on Carrer de Roger de Llúria, between Diputació and Consell de Cent. For transport, either carts labelled with the water brand and pulled by a horse, or a cart with six horses were used. In 1900, a small grotto was built and the area was adapted so that people primarily from Clot, Sagrera, and Sant Andreu could visit for picnics. Meanwhile, as happened with other springs in the city, many people went to the spring with jugs or earthenware pots to fill them with water that they would later use at home as drinking water. And as also occurred with some privately owned springs, at D’en Fargues, a charge was levied depending on the container being filled. Currently, the spring water is not recommended for consumption. Pere Fargas, son of industrialists from Sant Martí and married to Montserrat Casanovas, owner of the Pujol farmhouse, decided to exploit the water emerging from his property on Mount Màger. Although the property belonged to Pujol, the water was named Fargas; the spring and the entire region took on this name.
