Matt emulsion paint is the standard option for ceilings and walls in rooms, living rooms, and bedrooms. It provides a uniform, non-reflective finish, hides imperfections in the surface, and is easy to apply. For high-traffic areas (hallways, stairs, lobbies) and for children's rooms where walls get dirtier, we recommend a washable satin emulsion paint, which has a slight sheen but allows stains to be cleaned with a damp cloth without damaging the paint. One of the most frequent calls we receive in autumn-winter are from homeowners who haven't painted their home for eight or ten years. They've noticed that the walls are no longer white, but a difficult-to-define yellowish-grey. Mediterranean light is unforgiving on walls. Cheap whites yellow due to slow oxidation, especially in rooms with direct sun or near the kitchen where steam and suspended oil reach. Marks from furniture, splashes over time, and small knocks on corners are cumulative.
